(1) Producer - Content Development
CBC News Studio has a 12-month opportunity for a Producer who wants to be part of content development focused on reaching new and more diverse audiences.
Your role:
CBC News Studios is looking for an experienced producer to support the work of Content Development and CBC News Specials. The producer will work closely with local and network teams, helping them evolve to reach younger and more diverse audiences.
You are a strong editorial leader with a growth and development mindset. You understand shifting viewer needs, and have experience interpreting and applying audience research and data. You are fluent in the constantly evolving best practices in digital content, with publishing experience and knowledge on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and podcasts. You have proven experience leading projects and programming that require constant adaptation and innovation.
You have strong ties to local and network newsrooms, ideally with recent experience within local teams. You have some experience in managing change and difficult conversations within teams. You are curious, engaged, and immersed in the diversity of experiences that make up contemporary Canada. You bring different life experiences, perspectives and expertise to the team.
You are a mentor at heart, with a deep commitment to adult learning, team culture, and audience growth techniques. You have some experience working with other CBC departments. You live and promote the values of an inclusive and respectful work culture.
This role reports to the Senior Advisor of Content, within the CBC News Studios development team.
Key Tasks:
Supports overall team tasks including program reviews, and the development and re-development of programming.
Provides development support to all levels of staff, including working with reporters, producers and shooters across the country to support evolving audio and video practices. This could include some travel as required per project.
Supports rollouts of major projects for FAST and CBC News Specials, as needed.
Clearly communicates ongoing project needs and progress within the team, and to key leaders within the News division.
As required, drafts presentations, written reports, and commissions audience research.
Conducts environment scans and current state analyses as needed.
Maintains some communication and collaboration with partners in other areas including Marketing and Communications, Audience Research, Learning and Development, Workflow Practices, Capabilities and Development and EFS.
May perform all or part of the functions or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
A passion for, and experience in, developing people and content.
A combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from university or college, plus 5 years of practical and relevant experience in journalism.
Demonstrated experience in leading a project, including directing the work of others and providing feedback to teams.
A keen interest and ongoing expertise in news and current events.
A thorough understanding of CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices.
An ability to work effectively to multiple deadlines along with excellent organisational skills, interpersonal and communication skills.
A strong sense of creativity, initiative and a high degree of responsibility for the accuracy and quality of work.
Demonstrated skillset in digital and streaming video, including YouTube.
Ability to solve problems quickly, independently and in group discussions while living the values of an inclusive and respectful work culture.
A deep understanding and appreciation of the different cultures, opinions and experiences that make up contemporary Canada (new, more diverse, younger audience).
Thorough understanding of audience behaviour, engagement strategies, and best practices.
An ability to work overtime as required.

(2) Web Writer with CBC Arts
CBC Arts is looking for a writer and storyteller with great interview skills and a deep interest in popular culture, performing arts and contemporary art.
You are someone who is up-to-date on the latest in Canadian TV and film, performing arts, and contemporary art, and are always looking for who and what is new and next.
You are a writer first, but are able to think about how stories might work across other mediums, and have a keen understanding of how to incorporate visual elements into your stories and package them to make them appealing to an online audience.
You’re also a strong editor, able to take on edits when required.
You have a knack for finding interesting creatives across disciplines from across the country, and getting them to talk about their work in an easy-to-read and accessible way.
You’re able to see and contextualize trends in arts and culture.
You are a self-starter who always has multiple ideas on the go, but can also work as part of a team to create larger editorial packages and take assignments as needed.
Your reporting must comply with CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
The team is based in Toronto, but we are open to remote candidates.
This is a 24-week backfill position.
Key Tasks:
Writes, edits, packages, and publishes digital content in a clear and concise manner.
Ensures the website and stories adhere to the priorities of the day.
Gathers and reports information from various sources.
Re-writes material as necessary to make it more relevant to the platform.

(3) Associate Producer with All in a Day and Content Diversification
This is a five-month term, beginning towards the end of September. It's an in-person job in Ottawa.
The deadline to apply is end of day August 28.
CBC Ottawa is seeking an associate producer to work with two teams, with a focus on reaching young and diverse audiences. The successful candidate would split their time between the content diversification/creator network unit and All in a Day, with the possibility of working on other shows and projects as needed.
This position requires a range of skills. As a radio AP, you must be confident pitching fresh ideas, editing audio and turning around clean, clear scripts on deadline. With Content Div/Creator Network, you need to both come up with original digital/current affairs ideas that work on a longer timeline and help support the development of ongoing projects, including chasing guests, fact-checking, planning shoots, reviewing written and video, thinking visually and creatively and writing for digital. You are highly organized, self-motivated and always thinking about how to bring new voices to multiple platforms. An understanding of social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube is an asset.
Among your main job tasks:
Pitch great ideas, that reflect the diversity of the region and appeal to people under 40
Come up with creative treatments for those stories in audio as well as video and digital
Develop plans to gather and deliver those stories for multi-platforms
Write scripts for hosts
Gather and edit tape, both audio and video
Write clean digital articles, with skillful use of photos and video
Work on special projects as needed
Be part of the team reviewing Creator Network videos and First Persons in progress
Support development of Creator Network pieces through chasing guests, video elements and fact-checking
Familiarity with TikTok and Youtube is an asset

CBC North Iqaluit is seeking casual staff to fill backfill requirements. The positions can be filled remotely.
CBC North Iqaluit has a need for two backfill reporters to work between immediately, with hours available throughout the rest of the fall and possibly into the winter to cover for staff on leave. CBC News Podcasts is looking for a Coordinating Producer with experience in serving local news audiences. This work would support the CBC News Podcasting strategy, which exists to reach new audiences in the podcast and digital audio space.
Please Note: This is a 5-month temporary opportunity, expected to begin in mid-September, 2025. It’s a full-time position, Monday to Friday, primarily daytime hours but with flexibility for working with team members coast-to-coast. It is a hybrid role, requiring you to be in the workplace at least three days a week at any CBC location in Canada.

We work with CBC teams across the country to help support local always-on podcasts, network audio and video teams to increase their podcasting presence, and to commission and develop original news podcasts. We work in deep collaboration with CBC News Studios, The Audience Growth Hub, and CBC Podcasts to create audience-focused podcast content and best practices around podcasting.
About the Role:
In this role, you will be supporting our 11 existing “This Is…” podcasts in locations across the country, as well as assisting with the expansion of these local, always-on shows into up to 7 new locations between Fall 2025 and Winter 2026.
You will liaise with teams across the country to give data-informed feedback on the performance of their podcasts and the digital assets connected to them. You’ll coordinate content reviews and help teams workshop the unique value promise that their podcasts bring to their local audiences. You’ll help teams grow audiences with the consistent application of podcasting best practices around promos, episode notes and SEO friendly titles.This position is a coordinating role that is meant to form connections between multiple locations that now operate separately, helping to build content and resource sharing ideas, workshopping podcast fundamentals for teams that may previously have been radio-focussed, and help us reach more Canadians with local news, made by people who live in their communities too.
You’re responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
In collaboration with the projects leads, support development of 3-7 new This Is podcasts
Provide regular feedback on podcast programming and audience growth best practices to 11-18 This Is show teams
Coordinate regular workshops on story-centred treatments best suited to podcast formats for a local audience
Gather and communicate regular podcast metrics reporting for This Is teams
Co-ordinate 2x Yearly program reviews/data debriefs
Coordination of new promos and other supporting assets as needed
Upkeep of the intranet resources guide for This Is shows
Upkeep of internal documentation on holiday planning, team requests for training etc.
Innovate content sharing workflow
Assist in coordination of additional support resources provided to local teams by CBC News centrally
Implement iNews logging protocol for original content
Engage the new reporters and locations involved in Local Service Expansion in storytelling and contributing to local podcasts
Create assets for guest engagement in audience growth (quote cards and social assets for us to make guests look like heroes) and encourage them to build our network with their networks.
